Born on November 28, 1950, Ed Harris grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey, the middle son of Robert and Margaret Harris. His father was a singer who performed with the Fred Waring chorus on television shows, while his mother managed the household. Harris was a focused adolescent, excelling in sports and earning high school letters in baseball and football. He attended Columbia University on a football scholarship, but after realizing professional football was not his path, he left in 1971. Moving to Oklahoma, he discovered a passion for acting after attending local theater productions, subsequently enrolling in the drama department at Oklahoma University before pursuing roles in community theater, notably as King Arthur in "Camelot."
Committed to an acting career, Harris moved to Los Angeles in 1973, working as a housepainter while honing his craft. He earned a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1975. His early career included television appearances and film roles in "Coma" (1978) and "Knightriders." He received critical acclaim with a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for "Prairie Avenue" in 1981 and an Obie Award for his performance in Sam Shepard’s Off-Broadway play "Fool for Love." Harris married actress Amy Madigan in 1983, and their daughter, Lily, was born in Malibu, California, in 1993. His extensive filmography includes notable works such as "Glengarry Glen Ross," "Places in The Heart," "Alamo Bay," "Absolute Power," and his Academy Award-nominated role in "Apollo 13."

With the Ascendant in Scorpio, an intense and magnetic presence precedes them, drawing others into their profound depths. This outward presentation is one of power, mystery, and an unshakeable will, hinting at a deep well of transformative potential. The Sun in Sagittarius, placed in the first house, ignites a core identity that is fundamentally optimistic, expansive, and driven by a quest for truth and meaning. This Sagittarian fire fuels a desire to explore, learn, and share wisdom, often with a bold and adventurous spirit that can seem at odds with the Scorpio facade, yet it provides the philosophical underpinnings for their transformative explorations. Venus also in Sagittarius in the first house further amplifies this desire for freedom and broad horizons in relationships and personal values, indicating a love for intellectual pursuits and a generous, open-hearted approach to life, even if veiled by initial Scorpionic intensity. Mercury in Sagittarius in the second house suggests that their thinking and communication are geared towards exploring philosophical ideas, higher learning, and personal beliefs, particularly concerning their sense of self-worth and material security, always seeking to understand the 'why' behind their values and possessions.
