Bob Hope

Born on May 29, 1903, Bob Hope embarked on a prolific career in entertainment, making his radio debut in 1935 and his first film appearance in 1938. He starred in 61 movies between 1938 and 1979, and transitioned into television in 1950, becoming a household name. Hope was particularly celebrated for his sharp, topical one-liners and his unwavering commitment to entertaining U.S. servicemen and women through numerous world tours, often performing in combat zones.His personal life saw him marry Dolores in 1933, with whom he adopted four children; they resided in the same San Fernando Valley home for over six decades. Hope's contributions were widely recognized, earning him 42 honorary awards, including an honorary Knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in 1998. An accomplished author of seven books and an ardent golfer, Hope continued to play well into his 90s. He passed away from pneumonia on July 27, 2003, at the age of 100, in his Toluca Lake, California home, with his family by his side. His wife, Dolores, died in 2011 at 102.
