Lorraine Bayly

Lorraine Bayly established a diverse career in the Australian entertainment industry, encompassing acting in film, television, and theatre, as well as presenting, singing, dancing, playing piano, and directing and writing for the stage. She gained significant recognition on the small screen for her prominent roles in several Australian soap operas. Bayly portrayed the matriarch Grace Sullivan in the World War II period drama The Sullivans from 1976 to 1979, and later appeared in the legal drama Carson's Law from 1983 to 1984, and the serial Neighbours between 1991 and 1992. Additionally, she was a popular presenter and an original cast member of the long-running children's television program Play School, where she appeared from 1966 to 1978. Bayly's contributions to the performing arts were formally acknowledged when she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours List of 2001. Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, winning 10 awards from 14 nominations.
