Danny Wood

Danny Wood, born around May 14, 1969, was one of six children and the son of a mail carrier. At the age of 17, he was recruited by impresario Maurice Starr to join a new boys' band, a decision that led him to forgo a scholarship to Boston University. This group, New Kids On The Block, also featured Jon and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, and Donnie Wahlberg. While their self-titled debut album in 1986 did not achieve immediate success, their second album, "Hangin' Tough," released in mid-1988, propelled them to international fame. This album notably made them the first teen group in history to achieve four top-ten singles from a single LP. Their subsequent album, "Step By Step," quickly reached the number one position on the charts within two weeks of its release. Throughout their career, New Kids On The Block sold over 33 million albums worldwide, with Wood's mother providing consistent support from the group's early days. By 1994, the group's commercial success began to wane, leading to their disbandment. This period coincided with personal difficulties for Wood, including the end of a relationship and the departure of his girlfriend with their infant son, culminating in a challenging year in 1995. Further personal loss occurred in 1999 with the death of his mother from breast cancer. Despite these setbacks, Wood leveraged his earnings from his time with New Kids On The Block to move into the production side of the music industry. He produced albums for other artists and released several of his own solo projects. In 1997, he married songwriter Patricia Alfaro, and together they had two daughters, Chance, born in 1998, and Vega, born in 1999. His son, Daniel, maintains contact and spends time with Patricia's son, Anthony, at their Miami residence. Wood has also taken on roles in a few independent film productions.
