Curtis Scaparrotti

Curtis M. Scaparrotti, often known as "Mike" or "Scap," is a distinguished American four-star general who concluded his military career as the Commander of United States European Command. Concurrently, he served as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, holding one of the alliance's most critical leadership positions. Prior to these roles, General Scaparrotti served as the Director of the Joint Staff, overseeing the operations of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. His earlier commands included leading the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command and serving as Deputy Commander, U.S. Forces - Afghanistan, where he played a crucial role in coalition efforts. He also commanded I Corps and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and previously led the 82nd Airborne Division. Throughout his career, General Scaparrotti held numerous key leadership positions at tactical, operational, and strategic levels within the United States military. These included serving as the Director of Operations for United States Central Command and as the 69th Commandant of Cadets at the United States Military Academy. His extensive operational experience involved commanding forces during significant military engagements such as Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), Support Hope (Zaire/Rwanda), Joint Endeavour (Bosnia-Herzegovina), and Assured Response (Liberia), demonstrating his broad leadership across diverse global contingencies.
